Goa was a Portuguese colony for a long period along with Daman and Diu. In 1961, it was liberated and made a Union Territory together with Daman and Diu. Goa became a State of the Indian Union on May 30, 1987 while Daman and Diu were made into a separate Union Territory. It shares its boundaries with Maharashtra and Karnataka. | ||
