Post Independence, 30 princely states of the hilly region north of Punjab were joined to form the Union Territory of Himachal Pradesh. With the re-organisation of Punjab on November 1, 1966 some parts were also added to Himachal Pradesh. On January 23, 1971, Himachal Pradesh was made a full fledged State. | ||
