West Bengal was formed in 1947, by partition of erstwhile Bengal. In 1950, the princely state of Cooch Behar was merged into West Bengal. The former French enclave of Chandranagore was added, on Oct 2, 1954. Later some parts of Bihar were combined with it. | ||
