About :

Present day Assam constitutes the residuary part of the restwhile Assam province under British rule after the Khesi, Gazo and Jaintic Hills and the Lushai Hills regions were separated from it to form Meghalaya and Mizoram respectively. It is situated in the north east corner of India and is surrounded by Bhutan, Bangladesh.
